Christmas Blades

Not really fond of the killers,
someone get them a razor for Christmas please!
What's up with the mustaches?!

Let’s put aside whether the Killers suck, don’t suck, or whether you should care or not. Let’s talk about one thing, Mr. Tim Burton and his stop motion skills.
Next to the Vampires, my second obsession are Skeletons.. Oh i'm so dark, but you're all loving me for that.

With the video for Bones by The Killers, Mr. Burton continues with his signature trend. The idea is that everybody is truly dead, a skeleton at least, and that taking off one’s clothes is not truly taking off one’s armor: taking off one’s SKIN is the only way to reveal the inner self. So we get Devon Aoki (Sin City) and some guy doing the skinny dipping on the beach thing, but it’s the skin coming off, not the clothes. This allows burton to throw in the two things mandated by his deal with the devil to show up in all his work: skeletons, and stop motion. But it works for me.

Put The Lights On The Tree

What’s Christmas time without a 5-disc box set of seasonal inspired tunes by everyones hero of indie rock Mr. Sufjan Stevens. Yes that’s right, this holiday season, instead of your mom’s Barry Manilow collection rocking the speakers at your family functions, you can bust out some Sufjan and drink your sorrows away to hipster approved tunes for once, 42 tracks to be exact.
Well after you wade through all the music, stickers, books, pictures and other goodies that come with this gigantic set you’ll get to a little music video that was put together by animator Tom Eaton.
The video itself is a fun animated adventure featuring Sufjan and many of his friends dressed in appropriate relational garb; winged, from his recent touring or the cheerleader outfits of the Illinois days. Anyway just watch the video and see what else you can spot, there is plenty tom-foolery going on left and right so be aware and enjoy. Merry Christmas.

Riceboy Sleeps

Guitarist/vocalist Jon Thor Birgisson from Sigur Ros and boyfriend Alex have put together a book, titled Riceboy Sleeps. It consists of forty-eight pages of imagery that looks just about how you'd think it would. The Icelandic release is limited to one thousand numbered copies, which was available for purchase in late November.
What about us? the book should see an international release in 2007.

Here's Hoppipolla from their amazing album Takk... (2005)

Robots in Disguise

More than meets the eye
In one week!, Wednesday, December 20th. Mark this day!.
That is how long you'll have to wait for the first REAL teaser trailer for Transformers.
And by REAL, I don't mean a crappy teaser like the one they showed us this summer..
By REAL I mean we can expect Transformers in action..
Hell Yeah!

Imperfect Symmetry

Who looks at a Rubiks Cube and decides it's not challenging enough?
Apparently Michel Gondry does. I mean, we all knew he was a genius, but holy hell.
This was very painfull for me to watch... I HATE bare feet!. Beurk. Creepy fact about me #3.

National Anthem Of Nowhere

Whenever one of the many Broken Social Scene members puts out an album, it's worth mentioning. Amy Milan, Jason Collett and Metric all released records last year. Apostle Of Hustle aka Andrew Whiteman will be releasing the follow-up to Folkloric Feel on February 6th, Great way to start the new year.

You can check out the new song "My Sword Hand's Anger", from the upcoming National Anthem of Nowhere CD via AoH's website and it's definitely making me antsy to hear more.

It's a sad sad day.

The band announced their decision on the 7th, with the following statement:
"The Organ are breaking up. We want to thank our friends, fans, and family for all the support you gave to us. Thank you. Shelby, Jenny, Katie, Debora, and Shmoo."

I'll rock myself to sleep tonight while listening to my favorite track,
Steven Smith.
