Origin of Species

LibriVox have just completed a public domain audio recording of Charles Darwin's pivotal work, "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection" free to download, copy, and share. It's unabridged and over twenty-four hours long!
He'll travel with me on my Ipod for sure.

Charles Darwin’s Origin of Species (publ. 1859) is a pivotal work in scientific literature and arguably the pivotal work in evolutionary biology. The book’s full title is On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. It introduced the theory that populations evolve over the course of generations through a process of natural selection. It was controversial because it contradicted religious beliefs which underlay the then current theories of biology. Darwin’s book was the culmination of evidence he had accumulated on the voyage of the Beagle in the 1830s and added to through continuing investigations and experiments since his return.

I'm obsessed, I just can't get enough of Menomena their sound follow me everywhere and it's what really has set them apart for me. While being a three piece, they cover the traditional guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and saxophones. Honestly, I haven’t heard anything this inspiring in a long time. Fans of Wolf Parade and TV on the Radio (or lovers of great music) will feel right at home. They're comming to Montreal March 25th, I'll be there for sure. But for now, I think I’ll let their music do the talking.
