Who Are You, Defenders Of The Universe

Q: You are offered a Brain Pill. If you swallow this pill, you will become 10 percent more intelligent than you currently are; you will be more adept at reading comprehension, logic, and critical thinking. However, to all other people you know (and to all future people you meet), you will seem 20 persent less intelligent. In other words, you will immediatly become smarter, but the rest of the world will perceive you as dumber (and there is no way you can ever alter the universality of that perception).
Do you take this pill?

-Chuck Klosterman, IV: A Decade of Curious People and Dangerous Ideas.

A:I think we're living in a world where civism isn't a part of people lives anymore. Not that I think that I'm superior, but I come across a good share of people in the public transportation everyday and i'm becomming more and more nonindulgent towards others and to me good citizenship is a good part of intelligence, it's the basic, were you can build upon. If I was given the oportunity to take this pill I wouldn't take it, not because I would seem 20 percent less intelligent to others, but because I don't know if I could take part of the "world" with that 10% increase brainpower and manage to fonction normally when I see people being so self-centered, without respect to others and the world they are living in. Er, it's not a great time to be intelligent unless you can put your smart ass up there and make a difference in the world.

It's a good thing to be dumb... one doesn't need to think or analyze anymore. Just consume, eat of the apple, and die blissfully unaware that there was something to be done other than follow the fucking script they were told to follow.
