As often happens around here it's been quite a while since my last post, so I figured I'd upload my last painting to give a sense of some recent events around here. I don’t know what it is, but I just could not bring myself to blog for some reason. Not much is happening and I'm not the type of person who wants to blog about what I had for breakfast, don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong writing about that kind of things, it's just not me. I've been on vacation for the past 2 weeks which gave me time to paint, and it was about time I did so, the weather had something to do with it also. I just love autumn. On tuesday I'm going to see Gossip at The National and I just can't wait, their new album Music for Men is playing on repeat in my Ipod for months now. It's gonna be a great show. =)

Aren't you happy?! A little ranting party from yours truly.
Following the revamping of my place, that cost me a little more than expected, I was happy to welcome a friend into my humble apartment for 2 weeks, the time he needed to find himself a new place. I was worried at first of how we would manage to coexist under the same roof, but I think it went pretty well. It gave me an opportunity to cook which I rarely do, since I live alone, and by the same occasion, a chance to know this person a little more which I think was the highlight of these 2 weeks. Awwww

I'm ashamed, I haven't post in a month!..
I'm surprised you managed to live without my awesome posts ;)
Joke aside, for the long weekend I decided to revamp my apart a little, it was more than overdue. I painted the hallway, with the help of a friend, it went pretty quick, 2 hours and we were done. I think we did haste things up because we had bottles of wine awaiting us in the fridge. Today I decide to brighten up my bedroom a little, the inspiration came from magnetic flowers I found at this amazing store on Saint-Zotique, Motivo. I need to go back, I think I lost my marbles in there somewhere, I wanted to buy everything in that store. So here's the final result, i'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'm still not sure if I should frame it or not.
Next on my list of things to do, I have to finish this humongous painting I started a while back for my bedroom, Hint, This new painting will involve an octopus. :D

But the truth about this post is that she wants to have a platform to write some kind of weird comment about me that has come to her through a BNL song. So there you go Clo.

Its not that i dont have anything interesting to say, its just that im not digging saying it to nothing.

For the past couple of months, I was busy working, procrastinating, and I have a feeling those days aren't over yet. Last week I went to the dentist, a thing I neglicted doing .. since I moved in montreal to be honest. Last week I decided to go, cause I had a toothache. I'm 29 and I never had a cavity, so I'm going there thinking the dentist will tell me I have a small cavity, repair it, and send me on my way. Hell to the no, verdict, 1100$ for three cavities (inbetween teeth, so 5 teeth to repair) plus 2 wisdom teeth to take out. Fun Fun Time.. so, in the meantime, I have to take Penicilin and wait for my appointment in 2 weeks, and somehow come upwith 1100$.

on another note, I desperately need/want an Itouch, I'm taking sponsorship and/or credit cards.

Excuse me, it's now time for my penicilin dose..or two.

This is my coming out, I'm a lost cause of OCD, here's why.

1. I hate summer, more precisely, people with sandals, even more precisely, TOES. Everytime I see someone bare foot, I have to count how many toes the person has. I don't know why, but it's driving me nuts.

2. I'm obsessed with people who bite their nails, I can't stand that habit. I know that I would never befriends with people who bite their nails. It's not a shallow thing, it's just a weird case of OCD. Here's a fun fact, I saw the movie Juno 3 times already, and the actress Ellen Page, who plays Juno, as a serious case of nail biting. Everytime there was a "hand shot" I couldn't help but stare and cringe. It's an amazing movie, but that little fact refrained me to love it even more.

3. Not so OCD, just pure Evil. Although I love reading on Atheism, I love it even more when I get a nod of disapproval in the subway. Priceless.

4. When I sleep, my feet have to dangle from the matress, otherwise I can't fall asleep.

5. I have at least 6 different kinds of shampoo/conditionner, body wash, body creme. And I use them all.

6. Everytime I enter a video store or a library, I have a sudden urge to pee, even if I just went.

Not sure if anyone is aware of this or not but the newest movie of the Rambo franchise is hitting the big screen come January 25. You know and I know it won't be a good movie but it's gonna be rediculously fun to go see.

There's even a version of the trailer that uses that song "Bodies" by Drowning Pool..... hilArious. (That captial A was intentional....you're supposed to raise your voice when you go over that letter. It makes it funnier.)
Over at the Rambo official website there is a "Video Mashup" area where you can choose from a bunch of clips, images, soundeffects and music form the film and create you own bloody trailer. The best part about the "Video Mashup" area is that they have used little machete knifes inbetween the clips that you use to indicate the edit points. Hil-A-rious!

Went to see for the second time The Darjeeling Limited. I have to say that i'm a fan of Wes Anderson, but the first time I saw it, the "monkeys" in the row behind us refrained me of enjoying the movie to it's full potential. And on the plus side, they where presenting the prequel of the Darjeeling limited movie, Hotel Chevalier, which they didn't show on the first screening. After buying stacks of candies to nibble on during the movie I got a free combo from my over used Movie Watcher Card. Look at the size of that drink! who would/could finish it up? Poor bladder. But eh, on a second thought, after drooling over jason schwartzman for 2 hours straight I could've used another refill.

I feel like running down the aisles of Ikea, buying useless stuff, and spend the entire week trying to put the pieces together.

This song is on repeat for the last 2 hours, makes me want to do something interesting with my life, but right now it's so chilly in my appartement (I refuse to turn the heat on, maybe that way the winter won't come so soon, I'll probably just end up dying of frost bites) so I can only bury myself in my hood, jump around, sing along and hope for the best. Here's Six Feet Under screenwriter Nancy Oliver’s latest movie project, Lars and the Real Girl. It has the same dark weird dramatic feel as SFU, I love it. I really think that the movie will have the same buzz as Little Miss Sunshine had last year, judging by the reactions of Toronto film festival screenings. Also HBO just bought the new serie of Six feet under's writers Alan Ball and Nancy Oliver, True Blood, based on Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire novel series.

I think I've never been that frustrated in my life, my jaw hurts for clenching it to hard, I have blood inside my hands, I can't open my fists, It looks like fucking Stigmatas. That's how pissed I am.

For a while now I wanted to get a PVR, people kept raving how amazing it was and being a TV fanatic I told myself that I'll get one before the new season, mid-September. That said, I spent 45 minutes on the phone yesterday waiting for a bozo at videotron to pick up, Since i'm renting the Hardware he said that I just have to go to a superclub videotron with my old terminal and exchange it for a PVR for only 3$ more per month..
Cut to this morning, I unplug my old one, clean it up a bit, wrap it up and head to work with the beast under my arm. I decided to go to the Superclub Videotron on Mont-Royal, get in and they told me that they don't have teminals and that I should go at the one on Beaubien. Joy! Get on a overcroweded bus with stinky people, I finally arrive. The lady is very helpfull and nice and tell me that there's no problem I can exchange my terminals..She takes my old one, makes me fill a form, ok done. She takes out a PVR from under the counter, I say Goodbye to my weekends and evenings cause I know that with that beast I won't have any social life left. Re-filling another form and before signing it I notice that the lady checked the case as if I was going to buy it.

me: "I'm sorry, i'm not buying it, i'm renting it".
The moustache lady: "I'm only selling PVRs, if you want to rent it you have to call Videotron and they'll deliver it to you through mail.
me:"Are you fucking kidding me?! I called yesterday and the guy told me to come here. What i'm I suppose to do here? Ok, Ok, in that case give me back my old terminal"
The moustache lady:"I can't do that you already signed the form"
me:You must be shitting me!.

Got out, pissed, empty handed. Home, first thing I do is call Videotron and give them a piece of my mind, which I did, asking to speak to a supervisor, which I did. The guy told me to call back tomorrow to order a PVR and that he couldn't process my demand, I was to pissed I didn't understand why.
So here I am, long weekend, only the basic channels, none of the ones I pay extra for. And I won't have my terminal for another week. I have to call back tomorrow they better give me a credit for the week without service, and more or I'll fucking shop somebody's head off.
I'm having the time of my life.

Just a little quick note to tell you all that i'm not dead, at least not as I write these lines. Work has been arduous for the past couple of weeks. Not that I think that I'm superior, but I come across a good share of people in the public transportation everyday and i'm becomming more and more nonindulgent towards others and to me good citizenship is a good part of intelligence, it's the basic, were you can build upon. Upon Encountering The Crippled Elephant

Got home late friday night, my place was dark and I stepped on something sharp. The something sharp was my old DVD player that died on me earlier that week, and being such a big geek I opened it to see what was wrong with it. Since I know nothing in DVD repair I decided to declare it dead, it's been a loyal companion for 7 years it was time for it to rest in peace. I left the open remains in my leaving room, next to the door, to be sure to remember to take it out on friday morning. Obviously I forgot, and stepped on it's edge, sliced 3 of my toes open, living me in a blood bath wondering what to do next. I have to get to the hospital but i'm on a cut throat budget and can't afford a taxi run, I can't take the Metro i'm bleeding way too much and I can't walk. Only solution, I give my folks a call and 45 minutes later they arrive on my front step. There's no way I can go to the ER right now, i'm way too tired and my mother just pulled out a pill from her magic purse to help me sleep and stop the pain, so the ER will have to wait till the next day. 11:36 entering the Triage, this goes fast, i'm thinking it's not that bad!, They wrap my feet up and send me in the waiting room. The waiting room where I'll be living, sleeping, analyzing, suffering, talking to strangers for the next 10 HOURS!!!. I saw a guy with his index sliced up open by a 600lbs rock, a young girl who was involved in a bike crash, an old man with a chainsaw incident. By 6pm I knew everybody's story (which, if you know me, is totally unlike me to talk and get involve in strangers lives) but when you're bored out of your mind you find strange ways to entertain yourself. 9:30pm my name is called, I want to jump and scream my mind out like I won the freaking jackpot...I want to Hi-Five people on my way out like if my name was called on the Price is right, Come on Down!!. Room 9 (which I learned earlier that it was the Stitch room) I wait some more, a female Dr.Doogie gets in and tells me she can't stitch me up cause the accident happened more than 13 hours ago. Of course it's more that 13 hours!. I've been waiting here for 10 hours!!. At that point I don't care I just want to get out, so she did her thing, cleaned up my wounds, hurted like hell, and gave me a tetanus shot. at 10:00 I was out and on my crippled way.

The reverberations this morning are telling me I had a really good time yesterday with people I haven't seen in a while. we were such a great happy group of people 8 years ago and it didn't change much. I took some pictures, 4 in total (wow :|) but they're all crappy so please take a look at Jade's flickr account (notice that i'm in neither of them, wich makes me really happy) probably cause I spent a lot of time outside on the balcony or inside in the kitchen oven. I hate hot and humid weather, I can't stand it, I'll have to get use to it, it's only the beginning. To make my life more livable, I installed my A/C window/ fan thingy in my living room and just got a new short hairdo. I tried to let them grow since last September, did an ok job maintaining it.. till now... curly hair sucks, especially in humid weather. Next step, shave them all. But for now, cold/icy shower. I don't usually write blabla's in here..maybe I should, but again, i'm not a blabla girl..I'm about a 3 on the bla's scale. It's not bad considering 10 is Fran Drescher and 1 is Marlee Matlin.

On saturday I have this CEGEP/Graphic design Reunion, after 8 years..It should be interesting, I'll keep you posted.

One of the peculiarities of being a graphic designer is that no one else (particularly the elders) really understands what we do—possibly a result of not being too sure ourself. And one of the side effect of this profession is that I OVERanalyze everything, I scrutinize everything I see, posters, movies, CDs, Newspapers...and so on. In the metro, since I'm trying to avoid everybody, (call me anti-sociable but I can't stand seas of people especially in the metro/bus) I always have my nose in my book. This book follows me everywhere I go, and I can't get enough of it, I like how it's yellow cover catches the eye of my religion/oriented foes and how it makes them shake their heads in disagreement.
Although I like Hitchens book cover, I can't deny my designer nature, and came out with another version of it.

I finished reading Dawkins's The God Delusion a while back, it took me a long time to read it, I wanted to understand and soak up every words. Since i'm a book ho, today I purchased God is not Great by Christopher Hitchens, read a lot of good reviews about it and it only came out earlier this week.

While being a three piece, they cover the traditional guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and saxophones. Honestly, I haven’t heard anything this inspiring in a long time. Watching for the third time the documentary "Friends of God" by Alexandra Pelosi (who gave us 2002's Journeys With George) is inconceivable, like a friend said, "after a few times I've seen it enough. It's like getting that taste of vomit in the back of your throat" and I can't help but entirely agree with him. Friends of God sets us into the mad delusions and tortured psychologies of the popular fundamentalist Christian movement. Many of these evangelical organizations focus on children. They are openly targetting children and young people, teaching them that creationism is the ‘truth’ and that evolution is evil (I could write an entire book on that subject alone, that's how angry I am). Plus, a whole slew of rock concerts, summer camps, wrestling organizations and other things targetting teens. The kids appeared as automatons, unable or unwilling to question the pronouncements of their leaders. It made my skin crawl. Pelosi also aknowledge the fall from grace of Rev. Ted Haggard, the former president of the 30-million-strong National Association of Evangelicals, resigned in a scandal over his relationship with a male prostitute and buying illegal drugs. Twice a day.” and how often she climaxes, “Every time”.
Humm yeah.. right! cough* sheisfakingasshole*cough.

The Christian movement portraied in Friends of God is like a train wreck, It’s horrible. You know it’s going to be horrible. But you just can’t turn away, and you can't stop it.. that's the worst part.

If you're not able to see it you can listen to it instead. You lose some of the experience not having the visuals of the video part but if you want the weird experience of feeling like laughing and crying at the same time give a listen, it's about 55 mins long...

Alright, I just installed the IConcertCal Plug-in, and it's amazing, I had to change some settings in my Itunes preferences but other than that it works amazingly well.
